Local Attractions
Now that you've had a great weekend of fishing at the Bowen Family Fishing Classic, you're probably wondering what else there is to do. Well you're in luck! Bowen has a fantastic array of activities and attractions for you to do and enjoy.
BEACHES: Horseshoe Bay, Grays Bay, Coral Bay, Murray Bay, Rose Bay, Front Beach, Kings Beach, Queens Beach.
LOOKOUT VIEWS: Flagstaff Hill, Mt Nutt Lookout, Horseshoe Bay Lookout, Grays Bay Lookout, Hospital Hill.
DIVING: In addition to the offshore dives, there are some great onshore dive locations, like Horseshoe Bay and Murray Bay.
WALKS: There are many good walking trails in the local area.
HISTORY: Visit the local Bowen Historical Museum which has been described as one of the best in Queensland.
MURALS: 25 large wall sized murals are all within easy walking distance around the main town area.
FRONT BEACH ESPLANADE: Take a walk or have lunch down at the new Bowen Front Beach Esplanade. There are grassy, shady picnic areas, a first class skate park and WATER PARK for the kids, bicycle tracks, public BBQs and children's playground, as well as a fabulous WW2 Catalina Interpretive Centre.
BIRDS AND GARDENS: Mullers Lagoon is a wonderful oasis with a wide variety of trees, plants and bird life. So far over 176 species of birds have been identified!
MOVIES: Take in a movie at the Summergarden Theatre.
MARKETS: There are two markets on Sundays at the Queens Beach Esplanade and Hansen Park.
